I’m a Failure (but I’m trying)

So, I had planned to blog daily in June. And May. And April. Yeah, I haven’t succeeded at that at all. Work has been crazy. For a while, we were down a cashier and a dishwasher. Now, We’re not down anyone!! My daughter was hired on as the cashier, and a sweetheart was hired for the dishwasher. Both of them are doing pretty good. They both finished off their first week today. I’m ready to see how that all works out!

Life has been pretty hectic too. Madison graduated from high school in May. She then proceeded to turn 18 this month (on the 20th, aka Father’s Day). Monday, she started her first ever job, as I mentioned above. First everything. First job. First interview. First drug test. First (and second) TB test.First orientation. First FULL-TIME job! This kid is rocking this adult life already!
Ethan turned 16 in March and did driver’s ed this summer. He just has to do the driving part with the DMV folks next month, and he’s good to go. So glad that’s one less thing that we have to worry about.

In March, I’d bought a new computer. That got zapped within 60 days, and the return policy for Sam’s is 90 days, so we took advantage of that. So, I have another new computer that still doesn’t have all the apps and programs installed. Oh well.

Right now I’m updating from a Kindle Fire and a Bluetooth keyboard. I guess I won’t be able to make any excuses when it comes to getting things done. I’m hoping, since Office is now available on them that I’ll be able to use it for NaNoWriMo this year, since my laptop isn’t lasting, battery-wise.

Quick Update

Things are going okay here. Kids don’t have school for the rest of the school year. At least not in-school school. The district is working on the online aspect. This is good, because if they can figure this out now, they’ll be able to figure it out later when it comes to snow days. Then they won’t have to add extra days anymore. Maybe?

2019 Reading Goals!

My goal isn’t really ambitious. It’s 3 books a week. I can do that. Easily. I read 206 books last year!

But my goal this year is to read more than just romance novels.

Some self-help. Some basic fantasy. I’m going to try all the genres.

Okay, not really, but I am going to try and read something besides romance novels.

I’m currently reading (along with an actual romance novel) “[amazon_textlink asin=’0525533338′ text=’The Bullet Journal Method’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thesmortothes-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’894d85fa-0f75-11e9-8366-a3c773cd70cc’]” by Ryder Carroll.

I love my bullet journal. I don’t do a traditional one in a book (I do have books. LOTS of books. Several [amazon_textlink asin=’B0756R9W1N’ text=’Scribbles That Matter’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thesmortothes-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’cb9e9ada-0f75-11e9-9ca9-83cd32eff3db’] ones, including the actual [amazon_textlink asin=’B07KX5T6YC’ text=’Bullet Planner’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thesmortothes-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’d9efc33a-0f75-11e9-a181-09dc3d6c9e5f’] that came out this year). But I have a [amazon_textlink asin=’B01MY462LU’ text=’ring-bound planner’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thesmortothes-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’2cb9eaf1-0f76-11e9-a03f-2d0631eb2517′], instead. I got mine from Michaels, and I love it. I can have more than one, and switch them out as I get bored with the color or the design. I have a [amazon_textlink asin=’B01DJH659U’ text=’Recollections 6 hole punch’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thesmortothes-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’7a25412a-0f76-11e9-977a-25b06e14a2ab’] for my A5. That’s the size I prefer to work with.

Okay, my ADHD is kicking in and now I’m focusing on something different. I was explaining a book I was reading. We’re talking about books here. The planner talk will come later, I promise.

So, my goal is small, but I plan on making CHANGES to what I read. Hey look! That word of the year! You saw it in yesterday’s post too!

As you can see, the goal isn’t too out there. 2014, I read over 300 books. 2015, I don’t think I even DID a challenge. 2015 was a weird year for me. I honestly don’t even remember MOST of 2015 :O

2016 was the full year of me working. I was still only technically part-time, but I remember working 10-15 days in a row. I remember having an “OT battle” with coworkers.

2017 was the year I went full-time. 2017 was the year both kids were starting school during the time Josh would be home.

  1. Oh. 2018. I barely made my goal of 200. I chose several short small books to reach that goal. I read like 4 or 5 books in one day during that time. I didn’t feel like I cheated but I did feel like I could have chosen different books and just dealt with not hitting 200 books for the year!

So, 2019 will be year of making changes to my reading habits. I will read what I enjoy, but I will attempt to branch out. I shared a link on my Facebook (personal, but I will share it right now on my FB blog page).

What are YOUR reading goals?
